We pioneered the use of SPVs in Japan during SmartHR’s Series B, and we launched Startup Aquarium, now the largest startup career fair in the country.
We believe we’ve been able to make these moves because we don’t see ourselves as just venture capitalists—we see ourselves as creators at heart, driven by the desire to build what doesn’t yet exist.

Openings
The Operations Assistant will work closely with Operations Team members and founding partners, as well as external lawyers and accountants, to actively support and drive fund formation, ongoing fund administration, regulatory compliance, and investor relations.Beyond execution, this role is expected to identify inefficiencies, drive process improvements, and raise the overall quality of how we operate.. This role offers the opportunity to develop deep expertise in fund operations while building a comprehensive understanding of how a venture capital firm runs end-to-end.
【Requirements】
- Have basic knowledge of middle-back positions in general finance
- Experience in handling contracts, spreadsheets, etc.
- A desire to build a career in the middle back of a fund
- 2 to 3+ years of experience in middle or back office support roles at accounting firms, investment firms, banks, audit firms, law firms, or operating companies
- Highly autonomous, fast learner, and self-motivated – while also being a strong team player
- Native Japanese, business level English (eg TOEIC 800)

We are currently hiring a new member (venture capitalist) for our investment team. The new member will be primarily responsible for sourcing investment opportunities and considering investments. We also expect him/her to be committed to various aspects of our rapidly growing company, including fundraising, supporting our investees, marketing, recruiting, and other tasks that may arise as we expand.

- Systematically sourcing promising investment opportunities
- Form your own views and hypotheses about the investment area and startups. Why should you invest in that company? What creates the opportunity to generate significant returns in that field?
- Build relationships with key people across various communities, including academia, technology, startups, and government.
- Leading due diligence on everything relevant to making an investment decision: the founding team, product, technology, market strategy, competitive position, regulations, etc. of startups under consideration.
Startup support
- Work with our ecosystem team (the portfolio company support team) to think about how we can continue to provide top-class service to our portfolio companies.
- We contribute to various initiatives that bring together capital, talent, and insights for our investment destinations.
Fund Raising
- Building relationships with existing and potential LPs for future fundraising.
- Work with partners to close the fund.

- He thinks deeply about various trends in science and technology and offers his own unique perspective on them.
- Work closely with the Content Lead to collaboratively distribute content in various formats, including blog posts, YouTube videos, and presentations.
[ Ideal candidate ]
- Any industry is acceptable, but you must have at least three years of experience that allows you to convincingly explain why you can become a top-class investor.
- Experience in VC or startups would be a plus, but not required.
- A great balance of IQ and EQ.
- A strong passion for science and technology, supported by previous work and personal projects.
- Ability to understand and discuss a wide range of topics and a strong intellectual curiosity.
- Strong beliefs and the flexibility to evolve them
- Bilingual in Japanese and English (discussions and research in English are also required)
